Child & Adolescent Counseling

Children:
As parents, we love our children. We try as best we can to take care of them. However, sometimes our children are unable to communicate to us the source of their sadness or pain. When our children are unable to directly tell us "what hurts", they usually manifest their pain in troubling behaviors. These behaviors can include temper tantrums, bedwetting, social withdrawal, academic decline and violence. The Well-Path Center can assist in:

  • Determining the source of the child's sadness, aggression or pain
  • Helping the child to express their joys, anger and fears
  • Building a sense of safety, confidence and hope
  • Increasing the child's sense of self and personal responsibility
  • Helping the child to respond constructively to overwhelming situations
  • Strengthening the bonds between the child, parents and other family members
  • Providing parents with more effective parenting tools

Adolescents:
Adolescence marks the long transition between childhood and adulthood. Most families have periods of great turmoil when they have an adolescent in the house; many parents wonder if they or their child will survive adolescence. Even though parents have gone through adolescence themselves, it is often hard for parents to understand and communicate with their own teenaged children. During this exciting and challenging developmental stage Well-Path Center can assist your teenager in:

  • Building self esteem
  • Promoting the ability to make responsible life decisions
  • Improving communication and family cooperation
  • Transforming aggressive and risky behaviors
  • Identifying elements of healthy and responsible intimate relationships
  • Establishing a confident and mature self identity

If you or someone you know is having thoughts of harming yourself or others call 911 immediately and go to the nearest emergency healthcare provider to seek treatment.
